2020-2021 Elementary Wrestling Program

General Information: This registration form is for the Elementary Wrestling Programs (Raiders Blue (Level 2) and Raiders Black(Level 3)). The program is for wrestlers up through 6th (in some cases 7th) grade. The program is intended for children at ages 5 or older. Wrestlers at a younger age, or those with only 1-2 years experience should consider signing up for Raiders Blue (Level 2). Raiders Black (Level 3) is for more experienced wrestlers, and may be too advanced for those who don't have two or more years in competitive wrestling. The coaches reserve the right to move children between the Elementary levels as they deem best fits the child and the team. Also, Coaches may adjust the team you practice with in order to balance out practice room numbers due to health and safety.

Practices: Official practices will start the week of November 2nd. All practices this year will be held at OMP Evans City (360 West Main Street, Evans City 16033 (straight across from Evans City Elementary School)). Practices for Raiders Blue (Level 2) will be held Wednesdays from 5 - 6:30pm and Saturdays from 12:30-2pm. Practices for Raiders Black (Level 3) will be held Mondays and Fridays from 5-6:30pm and Saturdays from 11-12:30pm.

League Matches: Currently, there will be no WAWA League matches this year like in the past. If the COVID-19 Health situation improves, that is subject to change. The situation with the WAWA League status will be monitored and reevaluated throughout the season. We may have the opportunity to have Saturday small group scrimmage matches throughout the season with other teams, again dependent on team availability and the COVID-19 Health situation. That is currently TBD.

Singlets: Wrestlers do not need to purchase a singlet this year because we do not expect there to be many, if any, individual youth tournaments this season due to programs not having easy access to host schools. If that changes or your wrestler needs a singlet for a competition that they find to compete in, singlets will be available for a refundable (at the end of the season) fee of $40.

Fees: Because we know that some people were hit hard during this time of economic crisis, and because of the limited competition opportunities this year, we are significantly lowering our normal fees this year. There will be no raffle tickets, and we will just be charging a base fee of $75. Please let us know if this fee causes a hardship to anyone.

Safety: We understand wrestling during this time of COVID-19 can be worrisome and possibly uncomfortable for some. This is an uneasy time for all of us with all of the unknowns about what we are facing with health and safety. We, as the SVAWA and Seneca Valley Youth program, are incorporating several safety measures in order to ease concerns and limit the possibility of contracting and spreading the virus. Despite our efforts, there is still a risk of contracting and spreading the virus. Below are some of the countermeasures we are putting into place to help improve safety. Even with these countermeasures, we ask that your child cleans and bathes appropriately immediately following every practice with anti-fungal soap in order to hopefully prevent, not only COVID-19, but also other skin diseases that are related to wrestling. We also ask that you be more vigilant and use good judgement before sending a possibly ill wrestler to practice where they could potentially infect others. Due to the inherent risk associated with the contact sport of wrestling, we ask you to complete and turn in the COVID-19 Waiver of Liability at the first practice. Wrestlers will not be permitted to practice without first turning in this waiver of liability.

Measures:

  • Mats will be cleaned prior to practice.
  • Attendance will be taken at practice to make notifications easy in the event there is suspected exposure to COVID.
  • Wrestlers will be asked to use hand sanitizer any time they enter the mat and after practice has ended.
  • To limit crowds, parents are asked to come in ONLY to assist wrestlers with shoe changes. If your child is able to do this on their own, we ask that you do not enter the building at all.
  • Bring your own water bottle – wrestlers will not be permitted to share bottles or use the water fountains.
  • Wrestlers SHOULD NOT come to practice if they are feeling unwell – even if they do not have a fever.
  • If your wrestler has been exposed to COVID:
    • They are not permitted to practice for 14 days.
    • You MUST notify the coaches of the situation.

In the event there is confirmed or suspected exposure to COVID the SVWA Board will evaluate the situation and determine if practices can continue or if they must be shut down for a quarantine period to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

We are going to do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy during this pandemic and we ask that you please do the same.

2020-2021 High School Wrestling Program

This registration form is for the High School Wrestling Program. The program is for wrestlers from 9th (although most of the time 9th graders remain on JH team) through 12th grades. The coaches will make final determinations on Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams.

Fees: Please note that for Grades 7-12, there is a mandatory "Pay to Play" fee that the school collects. You must still complete this process and make this payment. This fee goes into a central school pot and gets divvied out to school sports organizations for large purchases (e.g., the new pool being built).

The booster fee is a separate payment and goes towards extra items for wrestlers during the season, such as a simple warmup uniform, food at tournaments, hotels, banquet costs for wrestlers, etc. If you have any questions about this fee, or believe you will have trouble paying it, please contact the SV Wrestling Board at smith_melissa@bah.com and we will try to make arrangements. Because we know that some people were hit hard during this time of economic crisis, and because of the limited competition opportunities this year, we are significantly lowering our normal fees this year. There will be no raffle tickets, and we will just be charging a base fee of $75. Please let us know if this fee causes a hardship to anyone.
