General Information: This registration form is for the Elementary Wrestling Programs (Raiders Blue (Level 2) and Raiders Black(Level 3)). The program is for wrestlers up through 6th (in some cases 7th) grade. The program is intended for children at ages 5 or older. Wrestlers at a younger age, or those with only 1-2 years experience should consider signing up for Raiders Blue (Level 2). Raiders Black (Level 3) is for more experienced wrestlers, and may be too advanced for those who don't have two or more years in competitive wrestling. The coaches reserve the right to move children between the Elementary levels as they deem best fits the child and the team. Also, Coaches may adjust the team you practice with in order to balance out practice room numbers due to health and safety.
Practices: Open mat practices will begin on November 2nd (and run Mondays and Wednesdays) for all wrestlers from 6:00 to 7:30 in the SV High School Field House. These open mat times are optional and are meant to start getting wrestlers back into the "wrestling frame of mind" and/or allow new wrestlers to try out the sport before deciding whether to stay with it. Official practices will start the week of November 28th. All practices this year will be held at the Seneca Valley campus. Practices for Raiders Blue (Level 2) will be held Tuesdays (in the Field House) and Thursdays (in the RGMS Gym) from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Practices for Raiders Black (Level 3) will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, and Thursdays (in the Field House) from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
League Matches: The actual schedule is still TBD. As soon as it gets finalized, we will get information out.
Fees: The cost this year includes $100 worth of raffle tickets, which you may sell as you see fit to ease the cost of the registration fees. You will receive your raffle tickets on the "admin day" where wrestlers will get their season weights taken, receive their singlets and shirts (if ready), and get team and individual pictures taken. Details will follow for how this day will work and for the mechanics of the raffle.
Safety: We, as the SVWA and Seneca Valley Youth program, are continuing incorporating several safety measures in order to ease concerns and limit the possibility of contracting and spreading germs. Despite our efforts, there is still a risk of contracting and spreading viruses/skin diseases. Below are some of the countermeasures we have put into place to help improve safety. Even with these countermeasures, we ask that your child cleans and bathes appropriately immediately following every practice with anti-fungal soap in order to hopefully prevent and transmission related to wrestling. We also ask that you be more vigilant and use good judgement before sending a possibly ill wrestler to practice where they could potentially infect others.
- Mats will be cleaned prior to practice.
- Wrestlers will be asked to use hand sanitizer any time they enter the mat and after practice has ended.
- To limit crowds, parents are asked to come in ONLY to assist wrestlers with shoe changes. If your child is able to do this on their own, we ask that you do not enter the room at all.
- Bring your own water bottle – wrestlers may not be permitted to share bottles or use the water fountains.
- Wrestlers SHOULD NOT come to practice if they are feeling unwell – even if they do not have a fever.
- If your wrestler has been exposed to COVID:
- They are not permitted to practice for 10 days.
- You MUST notify the coaches of the situation.
In the event there is confirmed or suspected exposure to COVID the SVWA Board will evaluate the situation and determine if practices can continue or if they must be shut down for a quarantine period to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
We are going to do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy and we ask that you please do the same.
