HS Results: 4 Seneca Valley HS wrestlers competed in the PIAA AAA State Tournament this weekend in Hershey and helped the team earn a 9th place finish out of the 124 AAA teams that sent a wrestler to the tournament. A great job was done by all 4 wrestlers! Placing tops in the State were Dylan Chappell (2nd), Alejandro Herrera-Rondon (4th), and Antonio Amelio (8th). Just missing placing by losing in the bloodround was Chanz Shearer. Great job to all of you! You make SV Wrestling proud! The best part is all 4 are coming back to lead the team next year!!! Also, CONGRATS to Antonio for earning his 100th career win while in Hershey!
Youth Results: The youth finished up their season this weekend having the most wrestlers out of any school to compete in the Area VII State Qualifier where only the top 2 wrestlers make it to States this coming weekend at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh. Congratulations to the following State Qualifiers: Corey Shotter (2nd @ 12U/135lbs), Zach Hill (2nd @ 12U/90lbs), Cam Grupp (2nd @ 10U/95lbs), Mimi Skowronski (1st @ 10UGirls/60lbs), and Jackson Habel (2nd @ 8U/45lbs). Also placing at Areas but not qualifying to States were Alexis Terracio (4th @ 12UGirls/140lbs), Zak Ross (3rd @ 12U/135lbs), Tommy Wuycheck (3rd @ 12U/145lbs), Cooper Beres (4th @ 10U/105lbs), Riley Smith (4th @ 10U/55lbs), Dom Mignanelli (4th @ 8U/60lbs), and Grey Rothrock (4th @ 8U/55lbs). SV HS sends 4 to PIAA AAA States and the JH has one placer at PJW JH States!
HS Results: The HS team competed in the AAA WPIAL Championships on Friday and Saturday at Canon-Mac. The team had a great showing, finishing in 2nd place overall due to contributions from ALL of the wrestlers. The Top 5 teams should all sound familiar from the Top 5 WPIAL Dual teams: Waynesburg 159.5, Seneca Valley 113, Canon-Mac 112, Kiski 108.5, and Hempfield 99.5. SV qualified 4 wrestlers to compete in the PIAA AAA State Tournament in Hershey this coming weekend. They were led by 2x WPIAL Champions Dylan Chappell (120lbs) and Alejandro Herrera-Rondon (132lbs). Also qualifying to Hershey for SV were Antonio Amelio 3rd at 145lbs and Chanz Shearer 4th at 138lbs. Drew Vlasnik and Liam Volk-Klos also had great tournaments, finishing up the season in the final 8 which fell only a couple matches short of qualifying. The PIAA State Tournament is Thurs/Fri/Sat March 5/6/7. Good Luck, Raiders!
JH Results: The JH team sent 5 individuals to compete in the PJW JH State Championships in Johnstown this weekend. ALL of the wrestlers competed well and made us proud. Dual sport athlete TJ Border was SV’s lone State placer, earning a 4th place finish out of 42 wrestlers. Connor Smith didn’t do too shabby either finishing one win shy of placing Top 8, finishing in the final 12 of his weight class. Congrats, TJ!!!

The Raiders have 6 JH State Qualifiers (Top 3 for boys and Champion only for girls) and had 10 wrestlers place in the Top 4 of their weight class. The trek to JH States begins this Sunday at the Area VII State Qualifier Tournament at Chartiers Valley. All JH wrestlers are encouraged to participate.
Youth Results: The Youth Wrestlers finished up the WAWA regular season with their last league match at REC on Saturday. The Youth Open Dual Team then competed on Sunday at the 9 team Edinboro Youth Duals going 4-0 and finishing in 1st place. Dual match scores were SV 32 Ft LeBouef 25, SV 42 Hickory 24, SV 47 Corry 14, and SV 34 Oil City 25. Seneca Valley Raiders finish Dual Season Top 6 in State for 2nd time in 3 years!
HS Results: The HS team made a great run this weekend in the PIAA AAA Dual Team Championships in Hershey, falling just short of their goals! For the 2nd time in 3 years, the Raiders made it to the consi-semis before falling, finishing in the Top 6 of the State in AAA. In the Round of 16, the Raiders defeated State College 34-29. The Raiders fell to Nazareth (the eventual Champ) in the quarterfinals 50-10. In the consolation bracket, Seneca Valley defeated Central Dauphin 37-28 and Spring Ford 34-27. In the consi-semis, the Raiders fell just short, losing 33-31 to Bethlehem Catholic which later finished in 3rd place. The coaches and wrestlers made us all proud by competing to their best and giving it their all! Thank you for the great dual season and excitement this past weekend!!! The HS Varsity team will continue their season trying to maximize the number of wrestlers earning a spot back to Hershey for Individual States with Individual Sections beginning on Feb 22nd.

HS Results: The HS team finished as the WPIAL AAA Team Runners-up on Saturday in Norwin qualifying to Team States for the 3rd year in a row! The HS team wrestled in the WPIAL Team Semi-Finals on Wednesday at home. They advanced to the Saturday WPIAL Team Finals with wins are Franklin Regional 59-10 and Thomas Jefferson 42-20. On Saturday in the semi-finals of the WPIAL Team Finals SV defeated Canon-Mac 31-30. The WPIAL Championship match was tight throughout, coming down to the final bout, before SV fell to Waynesburg 33-30. SV qualifies to the PIAA AAA State Dual Team Tournament which begins on Thursday Feb 6th in Hershey. Brackets can be found at https://www.piaa.org/sports/championship_details.aspx?sport=wrestling. Their first match will be against State College. If they win that, they will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday against most likely the top ranked team in the state, Nazareth.

HS Results: The HS team wrestled in the Team Section Tournament on Wednesday at NA, winning the section for the 3rd straight year. They first beat Hampton 50-18 and then North Allegheny in the Section Championship 40-24. That set the team up to be the 2nd seed in the WPIAL Team Tournament. They will wrestle on Wednesday at home in the WPIAL Semi-Finals at 6pm against Franklin Regional/Trinity and then if they win they will wrestle the winner of Thomas Jefferson/Butler in the quarterfinals at 7:15pm. If they win both of those matches, they will wrestle in the WPIAL Team Finals on Saturday Feb 1st at Norwin at 4pm & 6pm. The top 3 (out of 4) on Saturday qualify to the PIAA Team State Tournament the following weekend in Hershey. The Raiders also sent a partial HS team to the Brooke, WV Tournament.
